Chocolate Zucchini Bread

I've really enjoyed baking lately. Which is also on the items on my 25 before 26 list. I even have endured heating up my house to desert temperatures just to bake a loaf of bread lately. Luckily, the weather is finally beginning to cool down and the process of baking isn't quite so sweaty. Fall is coming. I welcome it with open arms.

Last night, we went to a shindig for this guy's birthday. Listen to his music. I promise you will not be disappointed. For the festivities, I baked some of my grandmother's chocolate zucchini bread. Granted, it's not the healthiest thing ever (stuff with chocolate chips loaded into its goodness, rarely ever is too good for you,) but it's delicious.

I even was able to use some of the zucchini from our very own garden. Most of that sad little garden fought a good fight this year, but I sure do have a lot of zucchini to go around.

Here is the recipe for the bread:

On another note, I changed my hair for fall. It's quite the change from the strawberry blond I've been rocking for a while. My sister is awesome enough to do my hair! I'm very red right now and love it! I'm also wearing the awesome apron my mother in law picked up for me.

There is nothing quite like having a home filled with the smell of this bread.
Enjoy!

The List: 26 Things Before 26

Looking back on the last year, I feel that I have changed significantly from my 24 year old self to my now 25. I have grown creatively in the past year, I have played a lot of great music with great people, and I have made our house more of our home, and I have taken much better care of myself.

24 was great.

Some Highlights:
Seattle, WA
Seaside, OR
Christmas 2010

Bought a mom-mobile. And love it.
Took care of myself.

Overall, I made it through most of my 25 list. I didn't run a 5k or even write a new song (or at least finish one.) I didn't blog nearly as much as I would have liked to or took a sewing class.

But, man. I conquered a good part of this list. That feels good.

I couldn't wait to write this years list. I feel that is will be the best one yet.

1. Be better to my body and health.

2. Record a new record. Good thing I've starting actually writing songs again.

3. Learn how to sew.

4. Blog more. I've neglected my little blog world for nearly a month.

5. Take photos. For fun.

6. Re-do our bathroom & bedroom. Paint the walls. New bedding. New colors.

7. Go through every room in our house. Determine what I love and hate. Craigslist shall be my best friend.

8. Bake more.

9. Keep growing out my hair.

10. Lose the rest of my weight. 20 more pounds to go. 30 down. I'd say Weight Watchers is doing me some good.

11. Go to a farmer's market.

12. Landscape our yard.

13. Pay off my van.

14. Get out of debt.

15. Get pregnant! :)

16. Move into a somewhat different position at work. And enjoy it.

17 . Go back to school. For what? Not sure yet.

18. Run a 5k.

19. Take a real vacation. Swim in the ocean. (I never have!)

20. Wear more color. Go thrifting once a month.

21. Learn to knit/crochet.

22. Fly somewhere.

23. Get another pet.

24. Get another tattoo.

25. Be a vegetarian for a month.

26. Get a massage.

I'm Back with Updates!

I'll keep this apology short and sweet.  I'm sorry for my absence. I missed you.

June and July have been whirlwind months. So many weddings, projects, and just life in general has kept me on my toes.

Sadly, a few weeks ago, we found out that our beloved cat, Lewis, had an incurable feline disease. I am not a cat person, but this little guy weaseled his way into my heart. We had to make the decision to put him down.  Ryan and I haven't really faced anything like this in our marriage. I realize he's an animal, but was an amazing one and part of our little family. Lewis will be missed. Lewis is greatly missed. Our house is still too quiet and I am sure we won't be able to have it that way for too long.

On a much happier note, my best friend is getting married in a few weeks. We held a shower for her at my house. It was VERY warm but still wonderful. I love all things wedding. This is just such a cool season in her life. I always tell girls to take it all in because you'll be on your honeymoon before you know it.

Good things are coming in the next few weeks.

I'm turning 25 years old on wednesday. That seems to odd to me. I'll be doing a reprise on my 25 things before 25 list and also introducing my new one for 26! I'm excited. This year will be the best yet.
