Yard Crashers 2012: An Update

Hello. I've returned from the land of no-blogging. It's been a while. So much has happened.

Yard Crasher 2012 has been a success. We haven't completely finished everything, but for once we no longer have the worst looking lawn on the block. Success. We pretty much sweat like crazy for three days, worked until it rained every afternoon, and I managed to only get a little bit of sun. We weeded like crazy, cut down branches, trimmed bushes, fertilized the lawn.  It feels really good to put some love into our yard. It really needed it.

Before

Really Before.

After

In Progress

Yard Work Break. A Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita. Spicy!

The finished product. I will get better photos soon. We have chairs there now and a little table.

We are still choosing stain colors. We also are planning on painting our door "Maple Leaf."

I'll update more once I have light to take some photos.

Yard Crashers 2012

Today. It begins. Yard Crashers 2012. I'm up before 8am on my day off. I'm wearing copious amount of sunscreen. I even think I might wear a bandana. It's said that there will be donuts.

Our goal: to not have the worst looking yard on the block. There will be a brand new front porch. We will be showing our nearly dead grass some love. The hedge in front will be getting a really good haircut. It's time. I'm ready. Thank heavens it's supposed to be in the eighties today instead of record temps in the 100's. Thank the Lord.

So. I'm going to get messy, dirty, and sweaty. But, it will be all worth it.

More photos to follow.

If I come out of this without a sunburn of any kind, I have succeeded.

Wish List Wednesday: Outdoor Spaces

We have been homeowners for almost two years now. I've spent a lot of time decorating the inside of our home, but the outside really still needs some loving. Actually, it needs A LOT of loving. Every time we work on the yard I feel like we are only making a dent in everything that needs to be done. Before we bought the house it was a rental and was never shown any yard love. At all. Not even a little. Our sod is uneven (what sod is actually still there) and trees need trimmed. There's really no landscaping of any sort and the second I seem to make progress it all grows back to where it was before. This year, one of our goals is to show our yard some love. We'd like to at least get the front yard to a place where we no longer are the "bad, young hooligans who can't keep their yard nice" on the street. I want the outside to reflect the inside. Curated and cared for.

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Pinterest, as I'm sure many of you are as well. Here is some inspiration to brighten up you Wednesday morning. Now if only I wasn't stuck at work all and day and could go out and enjoy a space like one of these....
