Weekly Links: Currently Clicking #5

Here are all of the places I have been clicking this week and what has caught my eye out in the great world that is the internet.

  1. Ideas for decorating with houseplants. I'm drawn to homes with a lot of plants. My house has no plants and a cat that would probably eat them, but I still love how they look.

Dinner With Denise & Company

I've said it many times before, but I love how food brings people together. No matter how horrible our day at work might have been, or the fact that we might have ten dollars left to our name in our checking account, or perhaps we are just in a funk: a dinner with friends can make everything seem not so important or overwhelming. A dinner with friends forces you to see what really is important in your life.

At the beginning of this year, we had dinner with this same couple. On Monday, we went to their house, joined by our roommate and Denise's mother, and had a wonderful meal that I'm still dreaming about. Denise is an amazing cook and being able to come to her home is a real treat, one that I don't take lightly.

We began the evening with a Sausage, Kale, and Potato Soup that warms your bones.

The main course was Winter squash with Quinoa, fruit, nuts and a pomegranate drizzle. Denise also blogs. It's full of many other amazing recipes as well.

The roomie made roasted broccoli, which was delicious.

Beers were had, cider was had.

My lovely honey even baked the cake for the evening festivities because the day before the dinner I realized that due to work, I would never have enough time to come home and bake a cake before dinner. He did an amazing job. He has a beard and he cooks! W-I-N-N-E-R!

I want many more food filled nights such as this.

Community Meals

Last week we had a wonderful couple and their son join us at our house for dinner. Denise (she blogs here and is an amazing cook) made us dinner and brought it to our house. We provided the bread, salad, and Shawn provided the wine. It was delicious. I've been allowing myself one day a week to not eat vegan and this was the perfect night to choose. The cake she made was amazing and I am still dreaming about it.

It's nice to have people in our home. Good people. Good food. I hope there are many more nights like this one in our future.

I'm Stuffed

Thanksgiving was purely an amazing day full of family, friends, food, and a movie!

We began our day with taking our friends to the airport. There's nothing like drinking insane amounts of coffee while driving to the most oddly placed airport in the midwest.

Food soon followed. Our rolls were a hit!

And the men even did the dishes!!!

This afternoon, Matt and I got the opportunity to head up to Backbone Studios in Loveland, CO to begin mixing down on our latest record. That place is beyond incredible. It was a vintage gear haven. Matt just kept grabbing a different guitar every now and then, headed into the other studio, and played through numerous vintage amps while Jason and I started to mix. If I could afford actually recording a project there one day, I will!

I'm also currently devouring this book. A good read.
I love reading books that involve me getting over my procrastinating and actually reaching for my dreams and my art. It's inspiring.

And for the record, as random as it is, someday I would love to own one of these.
