Weekly Lovelies: Currently Clicking #13

Where are these weeks going? So far in the past few weeks, this little blog has only seen Baby Marin posts and Currently Clicking posts. My apologies for the lack of further content. My days pass by so quickly. I blink and here I sit creating this post of lovely links for your enjoyment.

Each and every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. There are plenty of people out there doing big things and small things. Some of these are practical, some are inspiring. This week, we are keeping things fairly practical with some awesome snack ideas, what you barista is really thinking about your coffee order, a DIY for your kid's room, and some frugal ideas in baby-land and beyond.

  1. I love a good avocado. Stuff a salad in it and I'm sold. Try these Avocado Cup Salads, Two Ways.
  2. And to further our journey on the good food & snacks train, try this Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip or this Grilled Cantalope. (I have to try this!)
  3. The hubby and I want to sell our home next spring. We also want to be debt free before doing so. Any post that involves living frugal, I'm all for. Check out this post on Frugal Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap).
  4. I'm still not sure if we will ever head in the direction of cloth diapering. It is so much more affordable, but there are a lot of steps attached. Here is one woman that used to cloth diaper, then didn't, and then returned to cloth diapering. Interesting. Confessions of a cloth diaper drop out (and how I got back on the fluffy bottomed bandwagon.)
  5. Once Marin gets older, I would love to do this little DIY for her room: Kid's Clothes Rack DIY.
  6. And finally, 5 Coffee Orders & What Your Barista Really Thinks of Them. I worked as a barista and can relate to each and every one of these.

On a side note that isn't from a blog or somewhere online....
We went on a lunch date yesterday and tried out a new place in town. I am obsessed. It was such an enjoyable meal. We went to a place called the Mainline in Old Town, Fort Collins.

I ordered the Southern BLT, which has fried green tomatoes on it. Oh My Gosh. I love fried green tomatoes and have only had them once or twice in my life.

We also had the staff picks beer choices for lunch. Mine was a darker beer with bourbon infused into it.

We will be going back. I am sure of it.

Weekly Lovelies: Currently Clicking #11

Every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. There are plenty of people out there doing big things and small things. Some of these are practical, some are inspiring. This week, my love for sushi shows. DIY would take over my life and my home if I allowed it to. I feel the need to really focus on taking care of myself and setting some fitness goals. To add to that, I still think about good food ALL OF THE TIME.

  1. I think I need these Avocado Sushi Bites in my life. I also just realized that I still haven't had sushi since I had the baby. What?! That needs to change ASAP.
  2. I love how this Stained Wood Wall DIY totally changes a space. The price tag for the project isn't too bad either. I would love to a wall like this in our office.
  3. I have a sewing machine that needs some loving', but here are 15 No-Sew Fabric Projects for the Home.
  4. I received a FITBIT for Christmas and I am just now getting ready to start using it. I am excited. Here is one gals experience with the FITBIT. I think this is just what I need to really get moving again. Here's another review and another.
  5. I sometimes toy with the idea of going Paleo. This dish is right up my alley: Chicken Enchilada Bake. Yum.

A Simple DIY: Fall Wreath

I finally finished the fall wreath I've been working on and wanted to share the process with you all. It was very easy to create, a little time consuming, but simple nonetheless.

What you'll need:

  • A foam wreath (Found mine at Hobby Lobby)
  • Yarn (in assorted colors, as many different colors as you'd like)
  • Floral Arrangements (I found these on sale at Hobby Lobby!)

Begin by wrapping the yarn color of choice around the foam wreath. I usually take a little piece of tape to secure the first part of the yarn. You will cover the tape with yarn eventually as you keep going.

Keep alternating your yarn colors as much as you'd like. This doesn't have to be perfect as long as the foam wreath is completely covered and the color spacing is to your liking.

Next, I cut the stems off of the floral arrangements from Hobby Lobby and used a glue gun to attached the leaves/flowers to the wreath in whatever way I felt was best.

I think it turned out great and really makes our front door pop! Wrapping the yarn is a tad time consuming, but catch up on your favorite TV show and relax. The end result is exactly what I was looking for!

Fall is in the Air: An Outfit Post

I can feel fall coming. It's seeping into my bones. Scarves, boots, lattes, leaves. My favorite time of year.

In an effort to wear more color (Number Twenty) , I picked up this dress the other day. I've been really attracted to outfits with a lot of print and huge earrings.

Outfit Details:
Dress & Earrings: Charming Charlie's
Shoes: Payless, I think?

Also, I finished my fall garland the other night (Based off of Elsie's garland) . I love how it turned out and it's a perfect fit for our piano.

Check back soon for a new Fall Wreath DIY that I've been working on!

The Great Kitchen Re-do, Pt. 2

READ PART ONE HERE

Here it is, the moment you have all been waiting for: our new kitchen! :) I'm so pleased with how all of it came out in the end. It was quite the process, but I got to do the project with many people that I love. We really only spent probably about $500 bucks on the entire thing. For a budget so low, all I can tell you is it was a long two months of paint, paint, and more paint. We used "Jamaican Bay" by Behr on our walls and Ultra Extra White on our cabinets.

Our new kitchen table. Thanks mom and dad! I've also had that clock since I was a kid. I'm currently hunting for a nice red one.

Clearly, we need some more wine. :) I also found this bread box at an antique store. I saw it about a year before I bought it. I returned a year later and decided that since it was still there that I needed to buy it. It's beat up and wonderful.
Probably my favorite detail: our chalkboard wall! I LOVE chalkboard paint.

My father built our cabinet doors.

I'm obsessed with my hanging vegetable basket.
My Great Grandmother made this doily.

This vase was a thrift store find.

My favorite part of our kitchen: the place where we make the coffee.

DIY Envy

I have kitchen cabinets on the brain. Life is slowing down a tad for a while. We have only one or two music gigs set up for the next few months. I welcome the down time. I have a house that still isn't quite yet a home.

First project to focus on....our kitchen cabinets. I love the gallery kitchen we have. My goal is for my color scheme to be aqua and red.

Current cupboards...

I want bold cupboards. I don't want to play it safe. I think we have the balls to pull that off. Some ideas.....

Or even something as crazy as this....fabric cabinets! I don't know if I'm that daring...

I'm going to dream of aqua and painting tonight!

Should I go bold or subtle?
