Sip and Paint: The Pickled Painter in Montrose, CO

I can mark one thing off of my 28 Things list. A Sip and Paint. These establishments have started popping up all over the place. You can go in with a group of people, pick out which painting you want to be taught how to paint, drink wine and other beverages, and paint.

I had the chance to do this when I was visiting family in Montrose. It was quite the experience. Next time though, I want to not be pregnant so I can partake in the wine.

We had the men try and guess what painting went to what person.

Overall, it was fun experience. I can cross this one off!

Thrifted today. Cocktail cart?

I've seen these posts around the blog world and I'm always fascinated about people's likes and dislikes. It's interesting to me to be able to see how other people live their lives.

Watching: Revenge. I'll admit to it. This show is quite addicting. At least the new season is On Demand so I don't have to wait. Also, who am I kidding, I constantly seem to go back to old-school X-Files episodes. Seriously. Scully and Mulder forever.

Listening To: I just bought some tunes by First Aid Kit and ZZ Ward. First off, how have I not known of ZZ Ward until now? I also keep returning to Alabama Shakes. Woman that can sing. I'm all ears and all respect.

Thinking About: How life changes so quickly. One of our roommates is moving out. Of course I'm bummed but I think it's time for a new season in our little home. It will be good for all of us. As of today, I'm also toying with the idea of working at the coffeehouse I worked at a few years ago. Just a few days a month, nothing crazy. But, I miss it dearly and would love to get my hands back into that. Sitting at a desk all day and working on spreadsheets isn't exactly what makes my heart skip a beat, it only helps pay the bills and will continue to do so as long as its doors are open. I'm just being honest. So, a little extra pocket change, working with a great group of people in a community I adore, and doing something I love: doesn't seem like I have much of a decision to make, now does it?

Loving: The cooler weather. The thought of the holidays. The fact that we are having a Thanksgiving meal with some dear friends tomorrow. The fact that I picked up my camera today. I'm writing music again. I'm almost done with Christmas shopping. Also, I thrifted that glorious red cart pictured above today. I've been searching for one for so long. Cocktail cart, here I come.

Reading: Why Have Kids. I don't know what to think about this book, I also don't have kids yet. But, it definitely makes you stop and think. I think that's a good thing. I also need to start reading my novel for the month. I have't quite gotten there yet.

Planning: I have some time off around Christmas and New Years. I plan to repaint our kitchen cabinets (just white again, but they are starting to get a bit beat up.) I also want to paint our bedroom and bathroom. Ambitious? Probably. Have I even decided on colors yet? Negative.

Weekend Project: The Front Door

We own our home. I love it really mostly all of the time. Being a home owner also gives you the ability and opportunity to paint whatever nook and cranny of that home that suits your fancy. I always love how a coat of paint can completely transform something.

This past weekend's project: The Front Door

Our front door was bland, predictable, and the same color as the rest of the house. Boring. What fun is that?

Somewhere in the midst of building our front porch, I was looking through paint swatches to find our perfect door color. I feel that red has been fairly overdone and wanted to find something unique to us. I've been placing more orange into our house over the past few year or so and have been trying to get away from red. (Nothing against red, but I've just used it far too long!)

Here enters: Maple Leaf. The color of our freshly painted door. In the course of a few hours we had a spruced up door, some pumpkins to go with it, and my wreath hung up on the front door. Home Sweet Home.

I love it. For an inexpensive, weekend project: this is it. Aside from cleaning the door off and making sure that it was ready to be painted, this project was seriously a piece of cake. You just need a bit of patience in making sure the first coat is dry before you add the second, but other than that: easy as pie. (Clearly, I must want cake or pie, or really any dessert of any kind, due to my use of sayings today.)

I need to quit thinking about dessert.

I really must fix the number on our sign. The crooked two pretty much drives me nuts.

I also managed to get some decorating done on the inside of our little home as well.

I love this season.

If..

I had chose one artist to listen to for the rest of my life and only them....

Without a doubt it would be this man. Love.

I'm pretty sure I will be covering this song (the first video) in the very near future.

He also is a poet and a painter.

Love.

Ten Things I Love!

It is already another week and I can't believe it! How quickly time flies. But, alas, it is only Monday and this week is already amazing. On to the 10 Things I Love .....

1. I received my long anticipated (not really, I'm just really impatient. It arrived rather fast!) Red Velvet Art Package. Let the creating begin! I can't wait to make the planner.

2. Getting to see this girl play a show. She is legit. I laughed so hard between songs, she's so clever and hilarious. I would die to have a stage presence like Danielle Ate the Sandwich

3. At the show, I also discovered a new band. They were soooo captivating and chill. It was such a good music night. They are a husband-wife duo called You and Yourn

Hear them HERE!

4. All things that involve tea. It's my go to drink at night.

5. My mom and I painted my new office (more like large closet) at work on Saturday. After playing a late, fun show on Friday, the last thing I wanted to to was get up early, but I think it was well worth it.
(Before...)

(During...)

(After!!!!)

6. As a musician nerd, I cannot WAIT for this movie. I think a group of us are going to make a night of it.

(Sidenote: Jack White is the Man)

7. The fact that Ryan and I get to play this show this Friday. :)

8. Having an excuse to wear these again...it will be colder soon.

9. This place. Too bad I can't just buy a cheap plane ticket with my man and take a little trip. I've really been missing the northwest these days.

10. This goes without being said...but this cute boy. :)

Happy Monday!
