It's The Weekend | Number Two

We had our roof and gutters replaced this week. I feel like such an adult whenever I do homeowner stuff like that. Our house is looking good. Our bank account is looking sad. But, we were able to pay for our portion with cash, which is a big deal and helps me check off one more thing from my 31 Things Before 31 List. Hooray.

It's no secret that I love to make lists of any kind and then check off the items on each list. Sometimes, I compile lists of things I've seen and read. Sometimes, I create lists of things I would love to do in the future or things I can do now to make our present even more awesome.

Here are a few of those things for your weekend....

50 secondhand items you should never pass up.

Parenting can be super pricey. I would like more information on how to raise a family without going totally broke.

My pregnancy cravings and general love for PB & J sandwiches lead me to these cookies.

I've wanted to make this hippy banana bread for a long time.

Why "I Don't Have Time" is a poor excuse. This video made me think.

Have a great weekend!

The Red Cocktail Cart

I love thrift stores. I love antique stores. I know that when I find something that I really love and have usually been searching for for a longtime, I should probably buy it. I'll kick myself later if I go back to retrieve something and it's gone. It just has to be done. If you find something you adore, you probably should purchase it and deal with the situation later. It's kind of the unsaid rule of thrifting. It's just how things work.

Last Friday, by chance, I walked into an antique store in downtown Loveland. My old stomping ground. I went in for no other reason than the fact that I parked my mom mobile right in front of the little building. What really caught my eye was a vintage silver Christmas tree in window. Sadly, that was not for sale. But, as I ventured further into a world of thrifting fantasy, I came upon this red kitchen cart.

I've been looking for one of these for a long time. Usually, I find one that's white, beat to death, and barely usable. Or the store wants an insane amount of money for it and I'm not willing to budge on the budget.

I found this one and immediately knew I had to have it for our kitchen. I asked the owner how long she had the cart out and she stated that she had just put it out yesterday. Loveland was having a little something called Night on the Town that evening and she said that it would probably  be gone by tomorrow. (Smart sales tactics, lady. Smart.) She knew how to get to me with that one.

I left. I went on with my business. Got coffee, took photos for my mom, visited the grandparents.

But, as I was preparing to drive back to Fort Collins, the mom mobile directed me back to that little red cart. Now it is mine and has a lovely home in our kitchen. It is the keeper of the liquor and the baking supplies.

I love it. I'm lucky it was still waiting for me at that little store I somehow walked into last Friday.

Goals for July

June. Good ol' June. I didn't accomplish nearly half of my goals for that month. Life was busy. Crazy busy. It was full of shows and anniversary celebrations. I was sick for half of it because I've been breathing in smoke from all of the fires in Colorado. I still have a pesky cough that just doesn't want to go away. I was a bad blogger. I did drink a lot of tea and read some, but that was about it.

But, alas, here we find ourselves in July! The fourth of July is upon us. Usually once that hits, the summer flies by in the blink of an eye and I beginning preparing for fall (My favorite season of all!) I'm ready for fall already. Cooler weather is probably my main desire. That and boots, scarves, lattes, and preparing for the holidays. My favorite. I even want to try and start shopping for Christmas now. (Yes, I am striving to be one of those crazies.)

Until that time though, I will continue to sweat like a crazy women in our un-airconditioned home and pray that it cools down long enough for us to sit in our house for a while every evening. I need some good BBQ's on the back porch. Some wine. A good book. July is promising.

Work through this book with my man. We need it.

Find a killer sangria recipe and enjoy it on our back porch.

I've been brainstorming meal planning for the two us. I would like to expand upon that endeavor. Dinners together sound wonderful.

Write my new 27 before 27 list. My birthday will be here before I know it.

Go thrifting. I'm on the hunt for some maxi dresses/skirts.

What's In My Bag

I've seen these posts done a million times over the past few years and I'm always intrigued by what people carry with them in their bags. I think you can see what a person's priorities are at times by what they carry with them. This is my "casual-weekend-I'm going thrifting and drinking way to much coffee- bag." I picked the bag up at ARC Thrift Store for a few bucks and it has treated me well. I'm all about bags I can just cram full of stuff and toss over shoulder.

1. Bag: Thrifted from Arc
3. Keys: house, gym card, work, car, etc.
4. My shades. As cheap as they come. Every time I buy expensive sunglasses, I manage to break them or sit on them within a few days.
5. The stupid bracelet I have to wear at work to cover up my wrist tattoo. (Ask me how I feel about that one sometime.)
6. An apple. With my new meal plan, I eat ALL THE TIME. I must always be prepared.
7. My waterbottle. I consume at least 3 a day. Let's just say I flush out toxins a lot.
8. My beloved iPhone. What I did before this, I have no idea.
9. My nerd glasses.
10. My iPad.
11. My grungy wallet. I think it's time for a new one.
12. My Moleskine. I write down everything in here. Each morning I try to spend time writing three pages before I'm off to work. It keeps me sane.
13. These pens. They make my handwriting as legible as it will ever be.
14. Chapstick. Or I just obsessively ask to use my husband's all of the time.
15. My "B" notebook. I write blog ideas, lists, lists, and more lists.

So, what's in your bag?

Plaid: An Outfit Post

Good Evening! I want to make outfit posts a normal part of this little blog. You will learn that I have far too many boots for my own good, can't spend a lot of money on much of anything (ever), and would much rather wear something that I bought at Arc for $3 last weekend.

Case and Point: Plaid

Outfit Details:
Dress: Thifted last weekend. I love plaid!
Sweater: Borrowed it from my wonderful mother and she ended up just giving it to me. I seriously wear it ALL THE TIME.
Belt: Forever 21
Leggings: Target
Boots: Steve Madden
Nerd Glasses
Necklace: from a co-worker that was giving away a bunch of jewelry. I just put it on a longer chain.

* Special thanks to my good lookin' husband for taking these photos for me. We just bought a new camera and I'm truly in photography heaven~!

Laundry, Thrifting, and Vinyl

Today was a glorious day. And my absence here is very saddening to me. My schedule needs to slow down a bit, but that end is no where in sight.

Tonight involves.....brainstorming Christmas gifts, which I think I have all figured out.

Doing insane amounts of laundry. Does it ever end? Please make it end.

Relishing in my thrifting purchases from earlier. I feel pretty good about what I scored.

This rocking thermos. I can't wait to make my french press in the morning and tote it around in this baby.

Some more vinyl. My ears just can't get enough.

And I can't believe I haven't blogged about this, but a few weeks ago, we got a record player. I'm in love. I also had an excuse to rearrange the living room, which I love. Vinyl is my dear friend.

This week shall be crazy, but I'm ready for it. We head back into the studio on Saturday, which I couldn't more thrilled about! For the remainder of tonight, I plan on dreaming up some business plans!
