Currently Clicking: Week #16

Each and every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. There are plenty of people out there doing big things and small things. Some of these are practical, some are inspiring. This week, I am contemplating the amount of grass we have in our massive yard, obsessing over FITBIT with other people, dreaming about house tours and DIY tiles, and anticipating my first order from Stichfix to be on my doorstep sometime today.

  1. Eye Candy: 11 Inspiring Yards That Are Grass Free.   We live in a pretty hot, dry climate. I am always shocked by how much green grass is everywhere and how many gallons of water it takes to water it each year. Our yard is way too big for us. Living grass free would be awesome and also better for the environment and our bank account.
  2. It's no secret that I love my FITBIT. I hope to do a post on that soon. David Sedaris recently wrote a piece about it as well. He takes so many steps! He makes me realize that I should probably up my game!
  3. This house tour is my dream house tour. I love the dark walls contrasting with the white walls. I am a sucker for subway tile. The wallpaper in the entry way is what dreams are made of. Check out At Home With Sarah Brown. So good.
  4. Here is another game changer. Make a Patterned Floor With Linoleum Tile. I know I said linoleum. This is incredible.
  5. My first shipment from StichFix should be arriving today! Yippee! I can't wait to try on my first round of clothing that has been hand picked just for me. Here's some more information about how it all works!

Weekly Lovelies: Currently Clicking #8

Every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. I like these posts. I can go back and see what I was obsessing over for the week. This week it's parenting & friendship, getting out of debt, a new e-course, anything that has to do with decorating our home, brunch recipes, and a new album that you should buy. I'm all over the map and I like it that way. Also, here is an adorable picture of my family. That is all.

  1. Once We Become Parents We Don't Want To Hang Out With You Anymore (But Not For Reasons You Think). I relate to all of this. Having kids pretty much changes everything.
  2. This blog. She is so encouraging when it comes to managing finances, getting out of debt, and living more frugal, intentional lives.
  3. I just purchased this class and I'm super stoked. The team at A Beautiful Mess have done it again. I took their first Blog Love class and loved it.
  4. How To Have A Hipster Home. I hate to admit that I am guilty of many of these....
  5. For some reason I have brunch on the brain. I love this, this, and everything in this post
  6. Some awesome friends just released their new record. Gleemer is a top notch band that you should be listening to. Get their record here

Weekly Lovelies: Currently Clicking

I'm on the internet a lot. I feel like I have been on it even more now that I've been on maternity leave. I read a lot of stuff. I want to remember some of that stuff. Here is where I was clicking this past week.....

Early mornings with the baby. I need to clean our keyboard. Badly.
  • 18 Things Highly Creative People Do Differently
  • This post from Elise resonated with me so much as a new mom. It's a healthy reminder to know that you are exactly what your baby needs you to be at this very moment.
  • I am majorly obsessed with how Shutterbean does Meal Prep each week. Super inspired. I wish my fridge looked that pretty.
  • A Beautiful Mess has done it again. Their new photography and art journal course look so amazing. Their new photoshop actions are to die for. I would like each and every one please.
  • There is a movement of tiny houses slowly creeping into our society. I am so fascinated by it. I want to get rid of most of what I own. This couple is doing it right.  Here is another couple and their micro cabin
  • This house tour and this house tour. For someone that doesn't have a white wall in her home, I sure am drawn to them lately.
  • Doterra Oils have really hooked my interest. I am looking for some classes locally because the essential oil movement seems like something I could really latch on to as a new mother. Have you tried them?

Four Simple GOals

I felt a tinge of excitement when I saw this post over on Elsie's blog. Goals are my things. Lists are a favorite, yet oddly justifying past time of mine. Notebooks have been filled with said goals and poured over in the years to come to see if I've ever really accomplished them. Some are left to die on those pages, some have found new life in the everyday.

I like to have something to work for. Without a goal in mind, my busyness seems utterly pointless.

My Four Simple Goals......

1. Take the time to take care of myself. Visit farmers markets on the weekend. Make those good salads that I actually end up enjoying. Eat more of the fruit that makes my mouth water. Get some sleep. Actually exercise by doing an activity I enjoy.

2. Grow out my hair. I generally have no patience in this category, but will not cut any length off my hair, other than a nice trim until December. Luckily, my sister is my hair stylist and won't let me!
3. Make our house a home. Paint some walls a crazy color. Seek out those crazy flea market and craigslist finds. Hang some personal artwork on the walls.

4. Create a space for me to live creatively. Stop avoiding the one bedroom I have yet to unpack our house. Take the sewing machine out of the box. Place all of my art journaling supplies where I can actually find them. Use my camera for more than just business. Make time to live creatively. Busyness shouldn't be a downfall.

Let's see how I do! Many of these are goals, within goals, within goals. But, I like to see the big picture.

Breakfast downtown, farmers market, grocery shopping, music playing, and birthday BBQing today.

Should be a wonderful, beautiful Saturday.

Project #2

This was quite the time consuming task. Wrapping all of that yarn took quite a while, but I love it! It will match my office perfectly! :)

I like being crafty.

And I can't wait to use some of this fabric I have been collecting. Our house is being overtaken and I'm entirely ok with that.

Sick :(

Well, I am sick yet again. I was supposed to play a show today too, which is definitely not happening. Hopefully that will give me an excuse to not be so absent on my lovely blog. I really do, still, miss you all.

But, THIS, makes me very excited!

Stir Fry and Red Velvet Art

(My adorable husband and I. Notice the massive dents in my cheeks. I used to hate those dimples with undying passion when I was a kid.)

I'm finally beginning to not feel like death and was able to go to work today. I love my life. Seriously. I am immensely blessed by job, my husband, and nights where we can just chill and rent a movie. It's nights like this when we make our favorite dish....STIR FRY! So good. It is nice to cook a meal, which we don't do nearly enough. And by cook a meal, I mean, my husband takes care of most of the cooking and I'm in charge of the brown rice. :)
*THE MOST PERFECT MEAL EVER*

And in some EVEN MORE exciting news.....I made a couple purchases today that make me want to jump out of my seat and start creating stuff. One blog that I have been following for a long time now is A Beautiful Mess, the blog home of Elsie. She is so inspiring and I finally decided to purchase some of her awesome creations. I can't wait to receive them in the mail.

And on the wish list......

Christmas is coming...Right? :)
