It's The Weekend | Number Seven

Prego Belly & Sidewalk Chalk

This weekend I hope to finish our little gal's new pink room. We still need to build a bookcase and get her rug in her room. It's very pink and it's very fun. After that project is finished, I get to move on to the little boy's nursery. I am officially in my third trimester and I keep realizing how quickly time is flying. Holy cow, we have 12-ish weeks left!!! I feel like I was just starring at a positive pregnancy test at the end of October, while on vacation.

Here are the places I've been clicking this week. Lots of it has to do with food because I feel like I'm constantly hungry. Some links are about parenting because I've obviously had that on the brain. Some are about paint. Food, family, and home. Those are the things on my brain lately. You can look forward to a post on Marin's new big girl room and some more mom guilt rants in the near future. I'm sure of that.

Someday our kids will probably share a room. These bunk bed ideas are pretty awesome. I would sleep in them.

I'm all about white trim in my house. But, painting things black can also be awesome.

This chocolate banana smoothie is right up my alley right now. This cobbler looks awesome as well.

I also just started reading Chasing Slow: Courage to Journey Off the Beaten Path and I am loving it.

Have a great weekend!

It's The Weekend | Number Six

Our very neglected garden beds.
It's been raining the last few days around these parts and my heart has been so happy about it. It reminds me of my season of time in the northwest. I just want to go play music and drink tons of coffee. If only that were a distinct possibility right now. But, it is the weekend and I don't plan on even leaving my house today if I can help it.

I do enjoy finding great things out on the internet. There are lots of people doing some extraordinary things and I like keeping track of those things. Sometimes though, the internet is a cesspool of disgusting and hurtful things. Last night I was perusing Facebook and stumbled onto a video of a man beating a small child to a pulp. Due to the automatic play feature of most videos on Facebook, I didn't even realize what I was watching until it was too late. Ryan knows how it affected me I'm sure my pregnancy hormones were no help.  I was disgusted, frustrated, almost in tears. I went into my child's room and kissed and hugged her for good measure. There are nasty things out in this world. It took everything I had within me to get that image out of my head and to fall asleep last night. We watched a lot of funny cat videos and I read my new book in an attempt to drift to sleep.

Anyways, sometime the internet is sucky. But, the links below help me realize that not everything out there is frustrating and ugly. This week, we are talking pizza, making a house a home, some parenting stuff, and the idea of gardening. Enjoy.

I am making this pizza this week. I've been craving those artichokes.

To continue on the pizza craze, because we love pizza in this home, how about some pull apart pizza bread for good measure?

I am always thinking about how to make our house a home.  I love the idea of embracing your story for your home. So often I get caught up in trends and what everyone else is doing. Just do you.

This is a bit of a read but I thought it was interesting: How Parenting Became A Full Time Job.

I also found this interesting....Visualizing the data of parenting.

I've been thinking about gardening this year again. It's been a few years and I think Marin would have a blast. Here is some great gardening 101, especially with kiddos.

Bedtime hoops...Four questions you should be asking your child at bedtime. I love this.

Have a great weekend!

Currently Clicking: Week #23

Each and every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. There are plenty of people out there doing big things and small things. Some of these are practical, some are inspiring. This week we are reaching deep into how to live an exceptional life and have gratitude. There's a new coffee house in town that I didn't know about. I am thinking about baby proofing and trying to find ways to make it look better. Then, of course, I've thrown in a cookie recipe, because why not?

  1. I think this is a reminder that all of us need sometimes, especially when life isn't full of adventure but is full of routine and putting down roots somewhere. How to live an exceptional life, even when life doesn't feel exceptional.
  2. On the same track, wasting time is not something I am fond of. I have had many an afternoon wasting away in front of the television,  binge watching Netflix. Don't Waste A Moment.
  3. First of all, I love coffee. Second of all, I had no idea this coffee house even existed in my own backyard. I think what they are doing is neat. Colorado Coffee Shop Employing Homeless People Is 'Opening Up the Eyes' of Its Community.  I will need to go check it out sometime.
  4. Before we know it, our little gal will be mobile. I think baby gates are necessary but not very cool looking, decor wise. Here is a DIY red door, baby gate. I think it's great!
  5. These chocolate dipped, peanut butter cookies look great!
  6. A shift in perspective is always good. We can get caught in stuff that really just doesn't matter. Give Me Gratitude or Give Me Debt.

Each and every week, I gather links of all of the places I have been perusing in the great, grand internet. There are plenty of people out there doing big things and small things. Some of these are practical, some are inspiring. This week, I am obsessing over backsplashes for our kitchen, baby-proofing our house without sacrificing style, how to kill a music career, a village that is a work of art, battling the feelings of needing to be supermom, more research on solid foods for the baby, and making sure I don't throw out all of produce I just bought a week later.

+ Baby Marin will be mobile before we know it. Child proofing is in our future but I don't want to sacrifice style for safety. I believe that they can work together. Here's 9 Tips for Smart, Kid-Friendly Design.

+ I am a musician at heart and sometimes by trade. I definitely don't boast in having a music career of any sort but I have plenty of friends that are well on their way. Here are 17 Ways to Kill a Music Career. All good reminders.

Weekly Lovelies: Currently Clicking

I'm on the internet a lot. I feel like I have been on it even more now that I've been on maternity leave. I read a lot of stuff. I want to remember some of that stuff. Here is where I was clicking this past week.....

Early mornings with the baby. I need to clean our keyboard. Badly.
  • 18 Things Highly Creative People Do Differently
  • This post from Elise resonated with me so much as a new mom. It's a healthy reminder to know that you are exactly what your baby needs you to be at this very moment.
  • I am majorly obsessed with how Shutterbean does Meal Prep each week. Super inspired. I wish my fridge looked that pretty.
  • A Beautiful Mess has done it again. Their new photography and art journal course look so amazing. Their new photoshop actions are to die for. I would like each and every one please.
  • There is a movement of tiny houses slowly creeping into our society. I am so fascinated by it. I want to get rid of most of what I own. This couple is doing it right.  Here is another couple and their micro cabin
  • This house tour and this house tour. For someone that doesn't have a white wall in her home, I sure am drawn to them lately.
  • Doterra Oils have really hooked my interest. I am looking for some classes locally because the essential oil movement seems like something I could really latch on to as a new mother. Have you tried them?

Decor Obsession

I stumbled across this kitchen on Apartment Therapy today. I'm drooling.

P.S. I promise our kitchen cabinets are still on my to do list. I have a lot of shows coming up the next few weeks so my DIY time is dwindling. Soon, though. Very soon.

Color Cravings

It's currently 11:30am. I'm dreaming of actually walking down stairs and having some french press coffee out on our back porch. Dirty Dancing is playing in the background. And I'm perusing Home Decor blogs. Daily I pour over these images gaining ideas and new color cravings for our cream colored walls.

Some of today's inspiration.......
